inspecting cb slightly off the trailer
Here is the procedure in general terms: lower the tongue as much as possible put a substantial saw horse (4x4 construction, or at least 2x6, well cross braced) under the back of the boat as near the rear of the trailer as possible. Use wedges/carpet to increase the amount of hull contact with the sawhorse. raise the front of the trailer to the hitch of your vehicle and attach. Secure the back of the boat to something sturdy behind it like a fence post or tree, using a line to the cleats. Allow the winch to freely pay out. With a spotter giving you instructions, SLOWLY drive forward until the last crossbeam of the trailer is free of the cb opening, but still supported by the trailer. Snug up your winch. Block the front of the hull between the trailer so that you remove any rocking motion. Wooden wedges work well. Block your trailer wheels and jack up your hitch if you wish to free up your vehicle. You should now be able to lower your cb enough to access the lifting cable attachment point. Alternately you can slide the whole boat right off the trailer tilting it back onto some grass, then careening the boat, and working on the cb from the side. Although the picture attached is of a daysailer, similar principles apply.
