Get some knives and dig out the barnacles in the center board trunk. Old wood saws would work too or any thin piece of metal.

Barnacles? Hah! I had an oyster growing between my centerboard and the trunk. Too small to eat, too big to leave alone. Took several snorkel dives under the boat to clear him out and lots of jealous looks from the crew who were sweating in the 95 degree heat in the cockpit. LOL

i got mine free with a peice of aluminium flat bar long enuf to go down the keel trunk where the cable goes, and a bfhammer, lot of hitting on the flatbar lots of sweating and cussing, turn out the center board was bent and had to be replaced, someone had tied the boat to tigh on a dock and the tide came down hanging the boat on the dock and bending the keel.... good luck, i hard to jack the boat of the trailer to replace it, but now it work a1 and was well worth the effort
