With the recent chatter about “Halyard Replacement”, which in some way came out to be a great discussion on Halyard mast slap, got me thinking about the hard part. What is the best why to replace the center board uphaul line on the 26 or 260. The termination appears to be in the trunk area enough, even down, that you perhaps have to lower the whole keel system out of the trunk? Something that I don't look forward to.. HAS ANYONE COMPLETED THIS UPHAUL LINE REPLACEMENT??? Happy Holidays!!!

Hang the boat

I did this once on my last boat. During my spring launch, I asked the yard to hang the boat on the straps so I could drop the centerboard to re-thread a new line. Drop the centerboard and attach the new line to the old one (either end) by sewing it end-to-end with alot of thread. Then carefully pull it through. Hanging the boat and dropping the centerboard is probably the only way. It's also a good way to put bottom paint on the areas where the trailer hits. Roc

Centerboard line

The only way to repalce the centerboard line is to take your boat to a yard and let them lift it up as the other sailor metioned as you will have to drop the centerboard. To do this remove the cover plate at compression post and remove bolt. When replacing the bolt, seal it on the top with 5200. Good time to paint the centerboard housing.
