Cell Phone Access in Baja/Sea of Cortez

In March we'll be heading from San Diego down the Baja and then spending a few months in the Sea of Cortez before putting the boat on the hard down there.

What is cell phone coverage like in the area? What type of service do they have (GSM, CDMA)? I have a CDMA phone from Verizon and a GSM phone that I got for the Bahamas. If GSM, can I just get a SIM card for their local carrier? I also have a sat phone, but would like to use cell phones if possible due to cost.

Try Lattitude 38 magazine. They are west coasties.

ATT has good coverage there. Just used my iPhone for 2 months sailing up the inside of Baja.
