Never had a ceiling light burn out before. Can anyone tell me how I open up the "hockey puck" shaped fixture? Are the halogen bulbs replaceable or do I buy an entire replacement fixture? Anyone replaced this type with an LED? Will an LED fixture fit in the same hole in the ceiling?

The outer ring will twist off with a 1/8th turn. The halogen bulbs plug in from the side. Don't touch the glass part of the new one. Or replace with a LED bulb and be done forever.

Generally these are G4 type bulbs. Go for a 6 array led bulb as previous post mentioned. Last longer and run a lot cooler plus much lower power requirement
