Ceiling handhold to help enter V berth

Has anyone ever attached handhold to the cabin ceiling to grab and help enter the V berth feet first on a smaller sailboat?

I thought about it. On my Ranger 29 you had to do a 180 while in the berth to get your feet forward. It wasn't that easy. I was wondering about some sort of bar that I should elevate my body and shoot my feet in forward first. My wife said no gym equipment in the berth.

sounds like a typical wife. I'm 82, wife is only 59 and in great shape but if I come up with a reasonable design for a bar or two bars, she'll probably go along with it. Lots of exercise getting in and out of the berth. Our last boat was a Macgregor 26M with king size rear bed. Never even used the V berth. Oh well. Anyway the bar would be aft of the berth not in i!!

On my 1993 Catalina 28 the 9O added a closet bar because he lived on it but it works great as a hand hold when trying to get put of the berth.

I added a queen berth in the salon of our 272, and it was copied by a couple who was having the same problem as you.

We have exactly that for a handhold over the v-birth. Most times it works. Sometimes it doesn't

works fine on smooth surfaces, not on a fabric ceiling. Just planning to drill holes thru the deck, seal them and fasten the bar that way. Just not sure exactly where to place it.. May make a temporary moveable support to find the right spot.

I made stainless grab bars in my salon. I bedded the barrel bolts under the sliders. You could do this.

I guess there's something wrong with me. I sleep in my v-berth with my head forward. I find sleeping feet forward has my head going downhill. Maybe it's just me.
Oh yeah I do bang my head on occasion
