So I just finally took my mast off my boat and brought it into my pole barn today to study it and straighten out all the halyards, shrouds etc. Of course I am replacing all halyards and sheets but I have a question. Since the CDI has it's own halyard, for those who have a CDI, do you just get rid of your jib halyard or do you just leave it on the mast? Either way I was thinking maybe I will use this as part of my mast raising system.

Keep it for a light air sail someday. "Drifter" is the common name although I'm not sure that's accurate.

Also if you ever have to go up the mast with the main halyard, you can use the jib halyard as your safety line.

I use mine to haul the inflatable onto the front deck when the boat is idle. By all means keep it.
