I have a 81 Catalina 30SR with a CDI Reefer II furler. The Reefer II has a convoluted mechanism to drop the sail, since it does not use a halyard. I can either upgrade the Reefer II to a Reefer I with an internal halyard or purchase a new CDI FF7 furler. Prices are very good at Sailnet. I plan to sail this boat another 2-3 years before moving up to a larger size. Any thoughts on which way to go? My dealer, who is excellent, says to buy new. Regards, Juan

Call Joe at CDI

Joe at CDI (978) 371 5508 was very helpful when I toasted on old CDI furler on my 1982 C27. I got the SeaKit7 which fit the ff drum onto my old aluminum two-slot extrusion. Since there is a lot of variation in earlier models, talk directly to CDI about the best way to go if you want to stay with their product. I am very happy with my 'upgrade'! Purchased a CDI FF7

I purchased a CDI FF7 from Sailnet on sale. Next step is to install the furler when it is delivered.
