CDI Furler question

Hello all. I'm currently in the process of installing a CDI furler on my O'day 25. Rudy at D&R (awesome customer service) sent me the system with instructions for my loft to cut the luff of my genoa to 356 inches. When I installed the furler, I noticed that the exact length of the luff extrusion is 356 inches. Wouldn't that mean that the sail should be cut somewhat shorter to compensate for the space taken up by the equipment at the top and bottom of the stay? I'm worried that the sail is cut too long..

Work it out

Call Rudy and ask him about that. Maybe he has a reason. But also work with your sail loft and tell them your concern. You are correct to worry-but you will get it right if you think about it and work it through.

Seems that way...

If the sail length and the luff length are the same, there are 2 issues: 1) the halyard rolls over a pulley at the top of the luff and needs a little bit of room, and 2) The sail-feed is set a few inches up from the bottom of the luff. It may not be that the sail was cut too long...but that the luff was cut too short.

Disregard. No problem.

Disregard this post. I see how the sail is cut (around the upper and lower unit) and everything fits like a glove. Thanks folks. -Todd
