I am writing about the CDI furler installed on my 272. I would assume that it is the original equipment and is thus 20 + years old. It failed last summer. To CDI’s credit they had a relatively inexpensive fix, a conversion kit to bring the spool assembly up to current standards. The conversion spool assembly was relatively easy to install. I did the conversion with the boat on land using a step ladder. The hardest part was removing the old furler. I probably spent 90 minutes to do the conversion including spending 15 minuets looking for a screw I lost.I would suggest that anyone doing the conversion call CDI and speak with them and go over how to do it. The instructions are good, but talking with CDI was better.I thank them for all their help, and I am looking forward to many additional years of sailing with the furler.Bob K
