I am writing about the CDI furler installed on my 272. I would assume that it is the original equipment and is thus 20 + years old. It failed last summer. To CDI’s credit they had a relatively inexpensive fix, a conversion kit to bring the spool assembly up to current standards. The conversion spool assembly was relatively easy to install. I did the conversion with the boat on land using a step ladder. The hardest part was removing the old furler. I probably spent 90 minutes to do the conversion including spending 15 minuets looking for a screw I lost. I would suggest that anyone doing the conversion call CDI and speak with them and go over how to do it. The instructions are good, but talking with CDI was better. I thank them for all their help, and I am looking forward to many additional years of sailing with the furler. Bob K
