Hunter 30T w/CDI 7.0 Antirotation
I recently bought a 30T 1991 Hunter and am very satisfied. I've been going through and doing modifications and updates in order to get the ship into pristine condition. The project I'm doing now was investigating why the CDI 7.0 was so hard to bring in. I disassembled the bearing assembly and found it full of salt and some corrosion. Cleaned and polished it thoroughly until bearing spun easily and then remounted. The problem now and was is the drum wants to rotate. I could tell the set-up below the deck was gaf and probably was not to spec Further research shows me that the turnbuckle should be inside the furling assembly, not below it and supporting it with a couple of washers. The installation manual actually says this is unacceptable. So this condition actually means my head stay is too long. Under the deck, forward of the CDI there seems to be a deteriorated assembly that may of held the turnbuckle and/or drum in position in order to prevent rotation when furling the sail.
Does anyone know about this setup or assemble I'm explaining?
