I've just pulled my 240 out for the winter (sad day). This is my first season with this boat, so my first time preparing it for winter storage.

I'm trying to figure out how best to store my CDI flex furler with mast down. I seem to recall that when boat was delivered the PO had it strapped to the mast. But, the furler is longer than the mast, so I'm stumped as to how to support the drum of the furler. Is it ok to have a slight bend to it - running from the mast, out to one of the spreaders, then toward the bow so the drum could sit in the bow pulpit with the mast? Any ideas would be appreciated.

I once saw a new CDI rig in the store waiting to be sold. It was coiled into big loops. I figured if the manufacturer ships it that way it must be OK. I've been doing that ever since.

I leave the jib in place and make about 4' loops. It goes around twice and I tie the ends together. I lash it all together with the furling line. It then sits on the cabin sole for the winter. I'm going on my seventh winter without issues.

NOTE: It is very springy, so getting it into loops can be a two person job.
