I would like to install a CD / Stereo System with speakers in the cabin and the cockpit. I have a 2000 320 with the VHF radio speaker already mounted in the stbd side aft lazarette of the walk through transom area. I am searching for the best location for two external marine speakers in the cockpit. Any thoughts or recommendations of a system to buy that works well with this boat and where to mount the speakers in the cockpit?

320 Stereo

The Factory stereo for the 320 hangs box speakers under the aft seats on the stern rails. The ones I've seen are Bose 151's. A standard car stereo running 4x40 or 4x50 watts will work fine. That's what we did. Catalina wanted 1800 dollars for the stereo and we had it installed for under six. I used high end small bookshelf speakers down in the cabin. the speakers below are on mounting brackets... Good luck....

Kevin; Mount outdoor speakers on rail clamps for good separation and do not, repeat DO NOT try to use the VHF antenna as an FM antenna via a splitter. Use an automotive antenna, which is tuned for FM. Get a unit that has a remote control, and try to mount it so you can control the volume/functions from the cockpit. Good luck. Larry W.
