CD Player/Speakers placement O'day 25/26

I'm trying to decide where to place my new stereo and speakers. The speakers are waterproof but I think I want them inside, not the cockpit. I was thinking about the bulkheads but don't want to cut into the teak.

Maybe building some small teak cabinets for them and hanging them on the bulkheads?

Lastly, where to place the stereo?

Any thoughts or ideas?

mounting stereo

you can get a plastic pod at most car audio stores for less than 20 dollars. This makes it easy to mount the unit under or above any flat surface. A little flexible plastic conduit can help to tidy it up. This is my O'Day 23. Happy sailing to you!

On my Oday 25, the PO did indeed mount the speakers on the bulkheads just above the back rest. A small bracket attaches the speaker to the bulkhead. I find this setup keeps them out of the way, and the speaker cable is routed behind the backrest aft to the head unit. The head unit is mounted near the icebox below the companionway hatch.

If you build teak cabinets, how will you attach them to the bulkheads?
