Cayenne pepper in bottom paint

My Vision 32 needs a haulout, cleaning and bottom paint. I have heard that a pound of cayenne pepper in the copper paint goes a long way in preventing growth.

Does anyone have experience with this??

It's a myth. Some publication - I can't remember which - tested it. Makes sense, of course. If something that simple could work so well, they'd already incorporate it.

Has anyone tried the mildewcide additive for paint? It comes in a little packet that you can add to a gallon of paint before applying to a wet environment like a bathroom. Hardware stores carry it. Of course it is not available for sale in California, but it is in other states.
