Caveat Emptor

Hi All

I noticed in a recent Digest that Pat Colligan
coonhopper2000@... is still advertising parts for sale on this
forum. Much as I dislike having to do so, I feel it may be in the
interests of other members to recount my experience with this gentleman.

Last May I purchased a set of teak washboards and frame from him. At
the time he was helpful in agreeing a price and posting these to me,
and they duly arrived well packed.

When set up however the washboards were too short and left a 1" gap
at the top. Subsequent emails to him about this problem - which had
not been mentioned before purchase - received promises of help to sort
it out. However nothing happened and sometime later he advised me that
he was going away for a while but would attend to the matter on his
return. I suggested that if he could send me a 1" strip of teak then I
could pin and glue this to one of the washboards to overcome the
problem (teak offcuts are difficult to obtain here).

From that day to this I have heard nothing further from him despite
the fact that he has continued to offer items for sale on the forum
and despite several messages to the advertised email address asking
him to get back in touch. The most recent of these was on the 16th
March after seeing his posting advertising engine parts. On this
occasion I informed him that unless I heard from him within 48 hours
I would take the matter further. This posting is the result.

Caveat Emptor.
