I hope that this is not too off topic, but this group seems to be uniquely qualified to sddress this. My house (or boat) has cedar plywood siding and I need to recaulk between the siding and vinyl windows and arround the door frames. Do you think that it would be advantageous to use marine caulking (because of its flexibility) rather than the "home" stuff available at the big box stores? Thanks for your indulgence and advice. Stevep, Go to a Duron Paint store and get their
acrylic /urethane 60 year caulk. I use about 3 cases per year and I tell you it is second onlt to 3M 5200 adhesive caulk. Bathrooms , kitchen and outside it doesn't fail. It will need to be cut out when you want to remove it and a cured piece will stretch twice its length. It never seems to age, 10 year old applications are still good on some of the homes where I work. Edit to add: With tube in hand the proper name is Maxflex and the product number is: 73-07210

If you go with silicone do not get marine grade as there is really no such thing. They just put that on the tube and charge more for the same stuff you get at the hardware store. Marine companies claim they add some type of a color stabilizer, but who cares?
