We are considering the purchase of a 1998 Catalina 380. We plan to live aboard and our primary cruising area will be the Atlantic and Gulf coast ICWs, the eastern and western Caribbean islands and parts of Mexico and South America. This will be our first boat, and we'd appreciate any comments/advice from current owners. Will this boat fit the bill for what we want to do? Are there any issues with this particular model/year that we need to check out before we sign on the dotted line? We want to be comfortable, but we also want a boat that sails reasonably well (although we will be cruising, not racing), and that we can feel safe on if we get caught in high winds and/or choppy seas--that is, one that won't fall apart under less than ideal conditions.
