Stu Jackson: It's been a number of years since I've seen a copy of the Mainsheet magazine. I always looked forward to receiving it because it was a wealth of technical info and general info about Catalina boats. The editor, Jim Holder, contacted me recently and asked if I would write some articles about sail trim in hopes of generating a greater interest in the magazine. I guess the print media form of communication is going out of vogue, which is too bad.

Anyway, when I got to the Catalina 34 section I noticed your picture. I showed my wife and she thought you were very distinguished looking -- and I agreed!! It's nice to put a face with a name. Over the years I've had many written contacts with the regular contributors to the forum but never had the pleasure of meeting most of them in person. It's one of the limiting factors of the internet but where else would I be able to communicate with sailors from all over world.

Aw, shucks, Don, too nice, thanks. My wife does remind me (regularly) that that picture is almost as old as my high school graduation picture!

Nice article, too, I'm looking forward to next chapter. Gotta see how it ends! :)

This one was taken a few weeks ago. Don will attest that the one in the magazine doesn't have the mustache, beard or hat! :)
Haven't seen the other one Stu, but my bet is there is also more hair under that hat :D:D:D

Stu: My wife tells me the same thing about my picture on the cover of my book -- must be the sisterhood of gals as they all think the same way. I told my wife I like looking at at the picture (which she took) as it reminds me of days gone by and what I formerly looked like!! In fact, I have it framed and sitting on the fireplace mantel so I can see it every day.

Presently, we live in an adult community in Tucson. When my son's come to visit they refer to us and our neighbors as "old farts" but I remind them that most look better and are in better shape than they are!! That usually shuts them up. When all the kids of ours and our neighbors leave we refer to the community as "God's waiting room!!".

I haven't gone that far, I just look at my old passport pictures now and then.:eek::eek:
