Texas "lake-sailor" and 1st mate will be in L.A. end of Aug. and want to charter to Catalina Island out of Marina del Rey area. Any recomendations? Would prefer a captain and 34-36ft. boat. Any option of getting in some ASA sailing lessons? Hope to sail Fri. pm through Sun. pm.

Marc, Seamist is on my dock finger, and I will tell you that they seem first class when it comes to care and maintenance. They have a variety of boats available. And, they require the owners to have good quality inflateables with large outboards. Marina Sailing is larger. I don't have an opinion concerning them. If I can give you a hand, e-mail me at rick.dinon@20thcentins.com; I will be off from Thurs-Mon. (Bringing the boat back from San Diego)

Another possibility is Eurosail Charter in San Pedro at Berth 73 . About 30 minutes south of Del Rey - Certified instructor has a 30' Hunter 36' Ericson(?) and 38 Beneteau . Very nice guy (Bill), bought a 33' Morgan O/I thru him. Knowledgeable, great personality and professional attitude as an instructor. Tom s/v Irish Viking
