Even more amazingly was 2nd overall with corrected time !! Congratulations David Sherman skipper of Palangi ! The only boat with a better corrected time was Gryphon Solo on an Open 50 that has a rating of -69 (who in fact broke the record for single handed time to Bermuda in this race with a time of 62 hrs 37 mins) http://bermuda1-2.org/2007/2007B1-2CombinedResults.htm Some of you might not know what the Bermuda 1-2 race is. Its held every other year and this year had the most entrants. Its a grueling 635-mile single-handed race to St. George’s, Bermuda fighting the gulf stream and then another 635-mile double-handed race back to Newport RI. Often experience gained from the Bermuda One-Two has led some of its alumni to embark on longer single-handed voyages, such as the Single-handed Trans-Atlantic Race (STAR), the Europe Two-STAR, and the BOC, Round Alone single-handed circumnavigational races. Go here to read the more about the history of the Bermuda 1-2 http://bermuda1-2.org/History/B12_History.htm Now I just saw something else very interesting. - It appears that "Lady Liberty" a 1987 Catalina 36 is going to be in the Transpac race this year With tongue firmly planted in cheek the organizers even wrote "Can Pyewacket beat Lady Liberty, a Catalina 36?. " on their home page (LOL) (Pyewacket has a -33 sec/mile rating and the C36 has a 319 sec/mile - There's even someone taking a Columbia 30 Sport Yacht in the race, but thats a relative speedster @ 187 sec/mile rating) http://www.transpacificyc.org/ I know a lot of you are probably laughing right now and I know the tranpac is a "different beast" with down wind sailing and professional crews but with the right correct time ??? LOL No this doesn't make a Catalina 36 a blue water yacht anymore than the Kon Tiki was but it is interesting stuff

Tom, Thanks for posting the results. Is there a typo in your posting re. the C36 rating? On the combined results sheet it looks to be 149 not 319. If they are using PHRF this would be consistent - I think the PHRF for our area is 144.
