I am thinking of replaceing my halyards. The manual suggests 3/8 low stretch line. This is also the same size that they suggest for the 30 catalina. I was thinking of going up one size to 7/16 and was wondering if any one else had gone up in size on their 36 and if there was any problems with the line feeding through the mast or blocks. I feel the bigger size should give me less stretch and the catalogs suggest a bigger size for my boat anyway. Thanks

Go Small

Keith, Do to weight and windage use the smallest you can. That's the only reason racers change from wire, it's the weight up top. Don't worry about being strong enough, If you can crank on 3/8 enough to break it, more than just the rope will be broke. For more comfort on that take a look at the tables for 3/8 rope and your size wire, I think u will find the smaller stuff will do just fine and save some $$.. Mike WD9EOU C-38 Michigan City,IN
