My 320 is hull #307 and I cannot determine if it is the Westebeke 30B (3cyl) or 29B (4cyl). Anyone know how to tell? And what oil is advised? And...lastly...what max RPM advised for long cruising? Ben

Count the injector lines / injectors. Each cylinder gets one injector.

Once you know which engine you have, get the manual for it. Although, you can probably figure on Shell Rotella 10w 30.

As a general rule, max RPM for extended cruising is going to be 70 to 75 percent of max RPM. Once you know which engine you have you'll be able to get the max RPM and just do the math.

White Lake, huh? Greetings from Muskegon / Catalina 315.

Thanks...I just got the boat and it is on the hard in Toledo. Prior owners not certain. Catalina put two different engines in that year. I don't have an owners manual so checking the injectors is probably best bet. Thx.

Of course....but I am in Grand Rapids 3 hours away. I should have check this out when I was there last month. My bad.
Understood you're not close to the boat.
Recognize that Catalina Yachts (God bless 'em) are still in (thriving) business. Call Warren at the factory and I'll bet he'd be glad to help you out and look it up, since you know your hull #.
Nice boat, enjoy.

There should be a small metal label on the front of your engine that will identify the engine model and serial number. Since you can't get to the boat easily, your survey should also have it identified. Based on the info from Wiki & the 320 owners association I would say it is probably the 29B, but it does seem to be an open question depending on the hull number. Why do you need to know right now? If you are just selecting the oil, I'd bet there isn't any difference ... just look at what is spec'd for each engine model. It is probably the same, either way, no?
