I am not a Catalina owner yet, but I intend to be soon. We are looking for a Catalina 30, but before I travell some distance to see one, I wonder if current owners can tell me if two adults can sleep in the double stern berth of a 1984 -86 C30, We are hoping to cruise with two couples and I have never seen a Catalina 30 . Hope you can help. Thanks Terry

you can in an '87

My '87 Cat 30 can sleep two in the aft berth. The only problem is that the steering linkage etc is behind a drop-down plastic cover, so about 1/3 of the birth has MINIMUM headroom. You almost have to slide in from the front. The aft berth is bigger then the V berth, and the salon table folds down (in mine anyway) to make another almost-queen sized sleeping spot for two more. You want to cruise with 2 couples? I'd spend maybe a weekend on mine with 2 couples, but that's about it. Anything more than just a couple nights and I'd look for something bigger. Just my opinion! sleeps 6 sometimes

Hey Terry, I have had a 85 C30TR for 3 summers now and have done long weekends and even 6-7 days with 4 people very comfy. As far as the aft berth goes I useually sleep there alone, but a snuggly adult couple can sleep ok with feet in first. Short people on the diner table and a tall person on the couch on starb. side. The V birth is narrow, again one or snugglers. Besides, the best place to sleep is out in the cockpit as this boat has real long and wide seats. Buy it and enjoy!! www.blowinganddrifting@yahoo.com

Pretty snug back there for two

I have an 1980 Cat 30 and the quarterberth is very roomy for one, but tight for two. The berth is wide but extends under the cockpit sole. A person could sleep there if they weren't claustrophobic. Lying flat on your back under the sole, you would barely have room to roll over because of the overhead. Still, love my boat. Hope this helps.
