Is the allowance for a tall rig worth the handicap penalty? I know the average windspeed has an impact, but what do you think.....I like the idea of the std rig having less riggining compenents and less to go wrong?Do the tall rigs with bowsprint have less weather helm?Thanksjeff

No but it does depend

I personaly dont think so. I own a standard rig and the only time I have ever been beaten by a tall rig is when there was almost zero wind. So it depends on the area you sail and what your normal winds are. If you live in a predominatly light wind area the tall rig might help.Joe
