It would take a very special boat for me to trade away my '93 Catalina 30 tall rig/wing keel..... about as ideal as you can find for Chesapeake Bay sailing .......... now if offerred a Passport 47 center cockpit, I'd be temptedIf you can find one, take a look at an early 90s Tall Rig / Bowsprit model. I think that the 92 was the last year with wooden grab rails and some of the other trim but if porportions and appearance are important, and they certainly should be, then this is a nice model. It also sails very well, is easy to maintain and has plenty of room both in the cockpit and below deck.
The wooden trim takes a little more maintenance (emphasis on little) but if taken care of adds a lot of character and the bowsprit is a big plus.
You mean SCALE model, right?I'd love to find a *good* Catalina 30 model; I've seen the Cat 27 model, but its proportions look all out of whack.
Does anyone know of a good one?
