If you can find one, take a look at an early 90s Tall Rig / Bowsprit model. I think that the 92 was the last year with wooden grab rails and some of the other trim but if porportions and appearance are important, and they certainly should be, then this is a nice model. It also sails very well, is easy to maintain and has plenty of room both in the cockpit and below deck.

The wooden trim takes a little more maintenance (emphasis on little) but if taken care of adds a lot of character and the bowsprit is a big plus.

It would take a very special boat for me to trade away my '93 Catalina 30 tall rig/wing keel..... about as ideal as you can find for Chesapeake Bay sailing .......... now if offerred a Passport 47 center cockpit, I'd be tempted

What wood is above deck is a minimal maintenance issue.

Yeah, I thought you meant scale model. Be careful saying that the C 27 proportions look all out of whack. Those sailors that own them are a pretty loyal bunch! I think that Catalina Yachts (Builder) sells a C 30 hull model on their website. Unfortunately, I only ever see modern yacht models as 1/2 sisded wooden hull cutouts mounted on a wall plaque. Never seen one with all the rigging and brightwork details included. You would think that the most popular 30 footer ever sold would have a better model for sale.
