Catalina 30 engine access doors

Yes, the doors can be a PITA but i’ld rather work on the engine mid ship as opposed to the engine in the stern under the cockpit - about every 2 years I just replace the hinges with non stainless steel hindes from Lowe’s - Home Depot for about $ 3 a pair -

My hinges are on the top, so I just use a bungee to hold the door open while I access the engine.
