Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to neutralize the diesel odor in the cabin of a catalin 30

Strong 'green' laundry detergent does NOT work -- have an enzyme cleaner on order. Have removed to launder cushions and all fabric, and will scrub all interior hard surfaces.
Will look forward to better intelligence from others! Curious if someone know a way to control ongoing between annual cleanups........
Do you still have fuel in your bilge? I don't think a shop vac is a good idea. If you have a mechanical bilge pump I would and have used that to remove gas from the bilge.
To help find the leak I would use flexible dip stick to find the level of the fuel where it stopped leaking. That should give you some clue as to where to look for the leak.
To get rid of the smell I had to use an enzyme detergent to break the fuel down and get it to emulsify so that it could be pumped out, via the mechanical bilge pump. I then had to scrub the bilge with detergent to get rid of the smell. If the smell is still there I would paint the bilge I didn't have to do that.

I had the same problem. In my case, I bought a 1988 Catalina 30 about 3 years ago and the diesel smell was not awful but always present. It turned out that my fuel tank had a pin hole size leak. It took me about a year to find it as it was so small and when I changed out the tank the oder was gone as well. Now there is not a trace of diesel odor.
We too had this on our 85. Made a huge improvement when we replaced the flexible hose on our muffler.
