Here is a question. I am looking to purchase a Catalina 30. It has damaged gel coat in a few places and other mispc problems. The big question that I have the the bellows on the shaft appears to have been recently replaced. It is double clamped and the clamp appears new. Another problem I have is that the bellows itself doesn't lt looks like a piece of radiator hose. I do plan to have the bottom done and the shaft seal replaced within the next six months. Is this bellows normal or is a jury rig that should be addressed immediately? I plan on moving this boat 100 miles immediately.

Went down the shaft log replacement road last year.

My boat had a 1.5 inch log and stuffing box. I purchased a proper Buck Algonquin log hose (very thick) but it would not fit in the limited space between the log tube and the hull as it was laid up from the factory. Not sure wanting to grind on the hull to make space I ended up using a non wire exhaust hose. Pretty much what the factory used in 78' but incorrect.
