Catalina 30 A'ddl storage?

In the past i have owned a MacGregor 25, A Catalina 25 and now i am purchasing a used Catalina 30. I have never used the "Q" berth for anything but storage so why should the '30 be any different. Has anyone made any major modifications to this area such as stuck a fridge in it and sealed the compartment and then gone and cut a hole thru the cockpit seat for outside access? Or maybe you have other uses for this cavernous area, considering that one can only stuff supplies so far back before they cant be easily accessed.

refig and quarter berth

When we purchased our 1982 a previous pwner had taken the drawers that are aft of the galley and installed the along the aft edge of the nav station. The frig was installed where the drawers were. We use the berth as a storage are also - the extra towels, suitcases, life jackets etc. My wife would like to curtain the area off at a minimum!

Closet

Rob lived aboard his C30 for years. He bought a fabric "closet" at some storage store (maybe even Target). The dimensions fit the space under the cockpit almost perfectly. Installed some snaps, hooked it up & voila! A second closet. It zipped up on the side so access was easy. You could store towels, blankets, pillows, etc without it looking ugly or getting in the way.It also leaves you a ton of room next to it to store sails or whatever.LaDonna
