I have a 1979 Catalina 30. IT still has the standard battery bank. I'm currently looking into adding another bank of golf cart batteries. Thus isolationing the starting and house system. Has any one done this and if so do you have a wiring diagram and placement options for the house batteries. Thanks Scott

Added a bank

I added two 6V batteries wired as battery 2 to my switch. The existing 12 V batteries I ganged together to be battery 1. I sited the new batteries in a waterproof ply box bolted in just aft of the compression post. On my 88 there is a compartment there under the settee.This location keeps the weight low and centered. Check Calder for plans and wiring schematics. My power situation is much healthier now, I run a fridge 24/7. I live on a mooring most of the year and rely on wind and solar.

Beside the fuel tank

I added the 6v to my system. Put them under the chart table and made a mount beside the fuel tank for the starting battey
