anyone install the maxwell 500 anchor windlass on the cat 28-II? The molding in the anchor well appears to be like the cat 30-II which will accomodate this windlass, so I assume the unit would fit. ?? Bob

I have a 34 footer and haul by hand.
If you are thinking of using 5/16" or 3/8" chain, you might want to consider sizing your anchoring SYSTEM based on where you're gonna be sailing. If, indeed, based on your cruising grounds, you actually NEED large(r) chain, then by all means go for it. Most don't need it, but I could be wrong.

Stu, glad to see you got your macho on... I know its only 28 ft. and 8600 lbs with no sea-plys... but when i hit that sand bar that wasn't there last week, it sure as hell would be easier with a mechanical asst. in kedging myself off..... or when you have a Portuguese man of war wrapped in the chain or line.... and haul it up by hand.... adds a new meaning to hurt, and the use of meat tenderizer..but then again, i do know of a macho guy who once used a bucket of pee.... but i perfer the meat tenderizer.... I haven't closed yet. The owner is a good friend and lets me "play" on it while I transfer gear from my O'Day 272. I am thrilled with it. Can't wait to go cruising. Having survey next week.Jim,

Jim, its a great boat .. your gonna love it... we were at caya costa last week... had a ball .. that would be a nice little sail from your area... have u been there?...
Been there many times and love it. Deal fell as didn't pass inspection. Love to find another. Cheers, Jim
