I'm looking at upgrading to a C-27. How difficult is it to step the mast for trailering? I want to use it as a cruiser and keep my C-22 as a racer.Cheers!Lance
A C27 is not considered a true 'trailerable' boat, other than to get it where you will permanently moor/dock it. Too big, too heavy, too much trouble. With a weight of 7,000+ pounds (empty) and a beam of 9' trailering is not easy.
C27 Trailering is done - 26-28' sailboats are trailered and ramp launched here all the time - there is no other choice for this sized boat here in CO - no travel lifts. These boats are wet sailed - just ramp launched and pulled at start and end of season. I think dry saining would be a major major PIA - but if your trailer plans are for seasonal haul out and a trip to far off venues once or twice a year - trailering can work. The Anchorage here in CO currently has 3 trailered C27s for sale in CO - you can click the link to see pictures of these boats on trailers.Hope that helps,OldCat
