I probably need to buy a throttle cable for my 1987 Catalina 27 sailboat. Is this a standard standard shelf item, and if so, where can it be bought? I recently grounded my boat, and in all the excitement the throttle connection inside the port compartment came out of the holder. I opened the two clamps and placed the connector back in the proper position, but now the end of the cable fitting is too long to fit back in the correct termination position in the round ring. None of the adjustments changed at the throttle or engine, so I am puzzled as to why the cable travel seems to have changes so much? I can go back to the engine and possibly adjust all the linkages, but why is this necessary?

Are you sure you have the cable in the holder in the right place. There is a small groove in the middle of the cable end fitting which fits into the holder. If you have some other part of the cable in the holder, say the junction of the sheath and the end fitting, the cable will project upward too far. Have a good long look. To prevent inadvertent opening of the connector I have the cable in the connector and secured with a hot pink nylon cable tie. There is no way it can come out unless I cut the cable tie and the color lets me know that it is still there.
