Hello out there, My first time on this site. My 27 Catalina is in sad shape from some storms that have passed through here. The last one blew another boat into mine break me loose from my mooring, poking out a cabin windo and making pretzels out of a stanchion. It is time for a refurbish of the entire boat. I must refinish the hull (removing dings) and the deck looks like alligator hide. Also all the wiring in the mast needs replacing. Is there any place that sells stantions at a reasonable price or will they have to be custom made? The pulpit rail is bent. Can it be straigtened? How does the mast connect to the hull? Do I need to drop the mast to rewire? The keel mounting nuts in the bilge are rusty. Is the keel in danger of falling off? Is there a place to buy a new cabin window? If anyone out there can help me out I would really be gratefull. I've got to get this boat feeling better and get it back to the Bahamas. Don Howle in St. Augustine............

some resources to get started....

a lot of your questions can be answered at the international catalina 27 website. Spending time there will save you a lot of time waiting for all your questions to be answered here. the second resource, Garhauer Marine, will provide your stanchions and other hardware. They have supplied alot of OEM hardware for the factory, so they know a lot about fitting out the boat. Good service and Very reasonable prices also. Your most important resource will be Catalina cusotmer service and Catalina Parts dept. You'll find their phone number on the website. Don't hesitate to call them with model specific questions or replacement parts availability. Take advantage of the strong factory support at Catalina....it has a lot to do with why their boats are so popular. http://www.catalina27.org/ http://garhauermarine.com/index.cfm http://catalinayachts.com
