I have a 1977 Catalina 27 mast in need of replacement "spreader sockets" due to the original installation I need to have custom brackets fabricated the after marker hardware will not work. I'm looking for any information I can obtain on the design and fabrication of these brackets. I may need to reuse the original cast aluminum sockets and therefore would be interested in any details of the failure of these.

My boat (1979 c27) was refitted with stainless brackets. 2 friends had originals on their boats and each had a cracked/broken bracket (one port, one sb). You can get the whole bracket from catalinadirect.com

if your old ones are looking like photo yes the after market will, at same time upgrade your spreader tubes with Some tubes you can get at local metal shop and cut to lenghth,Catalina D got you on the bracket but they also include the tube to keep the mast from collapsing as you tighten the one thru a trick to insert but we did it you can too!
