Catalina Direct sells a mid-boom traveler retrofit. You will have to work out the main sheet blocks and the arrangment on the boom. Typically, the mid boom design have three boom rings with blocks. The working end of the main sheet is run along the boom toward the mast, down to a block at the foot of the mast. then to either side to deck mounted pulleys that lead back to the cockpit. You would want to simplify the routing. Rather than have the main sheet head back toward the mast, I lead it back to a block with a cam cleat. My main sheet is VERY easy to trim at midship... even from the helm. Check the "unofficial catalina 27 website" They have drawings of the main sheet for the mid boom traveller.
