Catalina 27 dose she need 4 stands or 5 ?

Have to move our Catalina 27 home for a month and a half on the hard from marina, selling the 4 pad cradle and now the mover says I need a bow jack? never had one in old cradle, don't see them on other cat's in other yards.
So my question is this him trying to up sell a few more stands ?

It's been a while since we had a 27 ft Ericson but I'm sure it was held by 4 max. Five hold our 50 ft boat.

Four........ but, if you paint the bottom, a fifth is handy if you relocate the stands

i use 7 on my 31. three each side and one bow. with 4 stands if one gets in trouble you might lose your boat. the cost of the stands is minimal compared with the loss of my boat....and maybe the one beside me

Did not run that one thru my brain box,! And yes we have to do a total-strip & re-paint next fall,

You haven’t mentioned on what surface you boat is on. Is the surface grass, gravel, or macadam? Gravel and grass surfaces can change with the weather.
You haven’t heard about the Catalina smile? That’s when the 2 forward stands sink a bit and the bow stand doesn’t sink. The downward pressure on the forward part of the keel make a separation of the forward top of the keel from the fiberglass hull so you get the "smile". You never can really correct it.
So put you 5th stand under the bow with a soft pad but don’t tension it. Use for painting, as Joe says.
As an aside, don’t assume that the yard guys know how to block boats.
