Catalina 22 taking on water

1977 Catalina 22 is taking on water in the storage compartment under the dining seat closest to the bow. There does not appear to be any visible hull damage. When the boat is resting in the water the compartment fills up to the waterline. Any thoughts or ideas???

Assuming you have a swing keel the leak is coming from the pin that tightens the keel when it is down.This seems to be fairly common on the C22.Some suggest a generous helping of wheel bearing grease applied to the threads or if you do not plan to raise the keel at all during the seasion you could caulk it completely at the base of the pin.If you needed to raise it in an emergency the seal will break easily when turning pressure is applied to the pin.

Thanks for the tip on the keel lock bolt. I'm putting my C22 on a slip for the first time. I think I just might grease up that bolt before I launch!Thanks, Jay
