Also take a look at the MacGregor 26S or 26D (S = swing; D= dagger). These are water ballasted boats and easy to trailer and launch and they DO sail very well. these two boats are sometimes listed as MacGregor 26Cs. The "C" stands for classic. MacGregor latter came out with a 26 that has a BIG outboard and you can water ski behind them and they don't sail well..... so the older 26 boats are called "classic".
I know a lot of people poo poo the MacGregor boats but I've owned three and loved them all. They ARE lightly built but I've sailed mine all over the place ... off shore and in some 30+ mph wind....
The 26C has a closed off head, a nice galley, a queen bunk under the cockpit sole.... etc. and you can usually find one ready to sail on a trailer for around $3000. A great starter boat and one you can do some serious overnight trips with.
