A local fellow here in Pensacola, FL has a very inviting deal on a 1996 Catalina 22 mk ll with a wing keel. When I went to the marina to check it out I was surprised to find to entire cabin floor between the two quarter berths on the port and starboard sides had been glassed over with a wood box supporting the small table. It appears that this is the way that it was built. I wanted to check the keel bolts but there doesn't appear to be access from in the cabin. I have a 1994 Catalina 22 with a wing keel and there are several spots in the cabin floor that provide access to the keel bolts. Anybody have any idea how to access the keel bolts on the Cat 22 mk ll with a wing keel?

As far as this link says, the wing keel is encapsulated in fiberglass...

The Catalina 22 MK-II featured eight more inches of beam at the deck, fiberglass encased wing keel

That usually means it is fibreglassed to the hull....not.bolted on.

Easiest way to tell if it is a bolt on keel...
Is there a seam where the keel and the hull meet ? Even with a bottom paint job, you can usually see that there is a seam.

Even easier... Call Catalina Yachts and ask.
