3/8" line

Scott, We use 3/8" line for our main and jib (135%). We find that it is easy on the hands and the differance in cost between that and the 5/16 is not an issue. As far as lenght goes we use 60'for all our head sails. This gives you plenty of line to cross sheet if you want to. We did alot of cross sheeting last summer and it is the only way to go in higher winds. Hope this helps Dale

cross sheeting

Scott Cross sheeting is when you sheet the jib sheets to the windward winch, not the lee winch as is normally done. In order to do this you need to have the sheets alittle longer. You make a 90% pass around the lee winch and leed the sheet to the windward winch. This means that you are on the high side of the boat when you are adjusting you jib. In heavier winds this is a real advantage. We also put a pair of Lumar 15 self tailing winches on the boat last year and that are great, just as my wife. Hope this helps. Dale

Cross Sheeting +

Cross sheeting also pulls the sheet in closer to the cabin which allows my C 22 to point just a little higher. Kind of like a barber haul or an inner track but not quite that good I suppose. RK
