I will be looking at a Catalina 22 this weekend (1985 or 86, I can't remember). Fixed keel. Are there any special things to be aware of with these model years? Everything I read says it's a great starter boat, which is exactly what I want.
I have an 86 C22. The boat changed a fair amount from 85 to 86 with the 86 having a more modern look and larger cabin. As with all boats look for blisters on the hull, soft spots on the deck and any significant cracking. The C22 is a great boat. Mine is also fixed keel which makes trailer launching a bit tougher but it sails better than the other keels. If you buy it post again and I can explain how to launch and retrieve.
