Any one know how far up on the trailer near the bow roller - a 77' catalina 22 needs to be winched ? We had a bad day at the boat launch; the boat/trailer poped up off the hitch while hooked on my motorhome ! Embarrassing to say that I did'nt have lock on hitch-ball nor a strap on the boat& trailer.

I'm guessing after all these views

that folks may be hesitant to state the obvious, based on what you described. The answer is: ALL THE WAY INTO THE V. Keeps the weight as far forward as possible. Hope you didn't break anything. We all have learned the hard way. Go with the flow and just do better next time. Welcome to the club. Fair winds, Stu

Huh?

I am glad Stu broke the ice with that obvious thing. Now, to continue. If it is possible to "pop" off, as in leave the ball in a vertical direction, it is likely you have tongue wieght issues. Not the one in your mouth, but rather your trailer. It should wiegh about 10-15% of your total trailer. You might want to shift your cooler, rudder, outboard, mother in law, etc., to make sure your rig is not back heavy. High speed wobbles are not a pretty thing. Do you have the correct trailer? Most are set up, like Stu said, to just bring it to the bow V and forget it. Good Luck, Brian
