What is involved to convert a Cat 30 to a tall rig. Mast, standing rigging, sails, anything else? Are the hulls the same? Do all Cat 30 Talls have the bowsprit? DCS

Probably cost prohibitive

I have an '82 Tall Rig, and as I understand it the only real difference is the 2' taller mast, and (usually) the bow sprit. Keep in mind that changing "only" the mast and adding a bowsprit would entail all new standing rigging and all new sails, $$$$$! If you still wanted to do it, I know catalinadirect.com has the complete bowsprit assembly for $560. Aaron

Boom's Different Too

The C-30 TR boom is 6" longer than the standard rig also. I you think that you need the increased sail area of the TR/BS boat, you're probably better off economically not changing the rig, but replacing the entire boat. Not only will you need a new mast, all standing rigging, a bow spril, and a new boom, but also new sails to fit the new rig. Sell the short rig boat and buy a well maintained boat with the tall rig if that's what you want.

The list goes on and on and on

Mast, boom, standing rigging, sheeets, halyards, whiker pole, spinnaker pole, spreaders, sails, bow sprit, bow pulpit, and on and on and on.
