Spinnaker Pole
Mark, I've always found that an oversize pole works better, especially in reaching situations. The pole tends to get the chute out further where you get better wind to more of the sail. If you race, however, you take a penalty for the larger pole. I'm sure the penalty is because the sail is more effecient. I think an extra foot would be perfect. In racing, the length of the pole is supposed to be the distance from the mast to the forestay. Sean S/V Carnaby Street
