Cat 28 Hurth transmission problem

Iin the last 4 years I have relaced the Hurst HBw-50 Transmission,then pulled it and had it factory rebuilt and now I have pulled again same trouble. It starts out with hesitation going into forward then progressively gets worse till it will not engage in forward at all.Less than 200 hours on all three transmissions.This is mated to the standard 18 hp 3 cylinder Universal diesel. Anyone else with transmission problems on a 1994 or other year Catalina 28??? Thanks

1994 Catalina Transmissions

Had only 140 hours on mine when it failed. Had to be rebuilt in October. Now It's vibrating in reverse unless I throttle up.

Transmission cables

Have you checked the travel of the shift lever on the transmission? There is a minimum of required travel, I think it is 35MM but not 100% sure. If this dimension is not met the transmission will fail. I had to cut about 3/8ths of an inch off the threads on the shift cable to achieve this. Check the C36 website I believe there is a write-up about this.

So far, so good. I have a 1992 with 600 hours on it.
