When I bought our 1982 Catalina 27 it had Stern Perches installed. They rubbed badly against the split backstay, pushing the wire over 2-3". I figured that they were the wrong type, so I ordered new ones. But the new ones are the exact same shape and size, so they will also press against the backstay, which is not good. I'm contacting the manufacturer to see if they know anything about this, but figured I'd ask and see if any 27 owners have had the same problem, and how they solved it.

I solved it by converting to a single backstay. It give me a lot more room for fishing and makes the perch seats more comfortable.

Makes sense. Do you have an easy way to adjust your backstay? I'd like to be able to do that, as well as have the Stern Perches fit.

Just a turn buckle. If you want an adjustible backstay you could use some tackle with a 6:1 purchase.
