I just put my Catalina 22 in the water and was sailing it for the first time this year. For some reason I have a vibration in the tiller at 3Kn and the whole boat vibrates at 4 to 5 Knots. Not sure why? Help
The only vibration I can recall from having owned and sailed a C-22 with a swing keel was from the cable that raises and lowers the keel. I don't recall that I actually felt this vibration in the tiller.
The only thing I can think of, as it happens to me, (but the tiller is only an 'after' vibration) is something to do with the retractable keel cable. Sometimes, if you just raise or lower it a few inches, it goes away...Sometimes, not.
I had a vibration on my tiller which also seemed to resonate through the entire boat. It was caused by a rather small amount of seaweed type growth on the bottom of my rudder - seems that the antifouling paint had worn off the bottom of m y rudder.
